How to record your first song in Prishtina
Recording your first song can feel like a big step, but it doesn't have to. You don't need experience or a finished song, just something you want to turn into music. Here is how it works at 1972 Studios, our music recording studio in Prishtina (Pristina), Kosovo.
Start with what you have
A melody on your phone, a few lines of lyrics or a beat is enough to begin. You can come in with just an idea and work on it in the studio. If your song is already finished, you can go straight to recording.
Decide what you want to leave with
Think about your goal before you book. A demo is a simple version of your song, useful for trying out an idea or sharing it with collaborators. Knowing what you want helps you make good use of your session.
Choose your session length
Sessions start at 2 hours for €50, and 4 hours costs €85. You can book up to 7 hours, or a full day for €160. For a first song, a shorter session is a good way to get to know the studio.
Prepare before you come
Practise your song so you can spend your time recording. Have your lyrics ready, along with any beat or instrumental you want to use. The studio has the gear you need, including a computer.
Keep working in your own software
The studio computer has Ableton Live Suite, Logic Pro and FL Studio Producer Edition, and we can open your existing projects if you want to continue them here. You can also bring your own device and use the studio equipment in the session you have already started on it, connected to our setup with one audio interface connection.
Decide who comes with you
Collaborators on your project are welcome, and you can bring up to two friends. Every session includes one session engineer, who can also help you set up your recording. You can bring your own engineer too. Bands can work here with their producer, but there is not much room to record a full band at the same time, and acoustic drums cannot be recorded yet.
Book your time
Choose a date, length and start time in our booking form. Sessions run Monday to Saturday, from 16:00 to midnight. We will contact you to confirm your session and arrange the 50% deposit, which is refundable if you cancel up to 24 hours before your session.
Arrive on time
Your session ends at the time you booked and cannot be extended. If you book 2 hours and arrive 1 hour late, you have 1 hour left.
Take your files with you
Before you leave, save your session files on your own USB drive or email them to yourself. The studio does not keep any backups, so your files are fully your responsibility.
